Elmhurst students present 1000 origami cranes as tribute to the Japanese people

After Birmingham Royal Ballet’s Gala fundraising performance of Daphnis and Chloë and The Dream in Tokyo, those Elmhurst students on the tour presented 1000 origami cranes to Norio Takahashi, Administrative Director of the tour's promoter NBS. The cranes were made by students and staff at the school in the wake of the Japan earthquake and tsunami in March; they symbolise the school's support and appreciation for Japan through the difficult times. Presenting 1000 origami cranes is a symbol of world peace and according to ancient legend grants the bearer a wish.
