We are delighted to announce that this year’s GCSE results were the best since the school arrived in Birmingham over ten years ago. Thanks to the dedication of students and teachers alike, 95% of students secured five or more GCSE grades at A*– C, including English and maths, compared to a national average of 62%. What’s more, 34% of all entries were awarded A*– A grades (compared to 22% nationally) showing just how highly Elmhurst students have achieved. The best-performing subject areas were English Language, English Literature, Maths and Dance, with value-added scores (comparing actual results with standardised baseline predictions) being especially high in Literature and Double Science.
Congratulations must also go to our A Level students, who again achieved a remarkable 100% pass rate at grades A*–E. Our self-study students did extremely well across a breadth of subjects, including History, Geography, Computing and Italian, with the best results in taught subjects coming in Dance and English Literature. Special mention goes to Erin Sheffield for her two A grades and to Sara Nativi who scored the school’s only A* at A Level, in Italian.
To achieve so highly academically when their days are so onerous due to dance commitments is testament to the drive, diligence and desire to do well of all our students – well done them.
