Denise Lewin trained at the Arts Educational School and the Royal Ballet Upper School. She danced professionally in Europe, performing principal roles in Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Giselle, Le Corsaire, The Nutcracker, Petrushka
and other major ballets, as well as various contemporary pieces. She has also danced in musicals, including West Side Story, Chicago, Cabaret, Fiddler on the Roof, My Fair Lady, Kiss Me Kate, Hello Dolly
and The Bird Cage
Since attaining the Professional Dancers'
Teaching Diploma from the Royal Academy of Dance with distinction, she has taught at the Italia Conti Academy in London, freelance for the RAD and the Vienna State Opera Ballet School, and was tutor on the Dance for Children with Special Needs project at the RAD. Denise furthered her academic studies, gaining a diploma in anatomy and a BPhil (Hons) in Dance Education from Durham University. She has been a member of the faculty on summer and Easter schools for the Royal Academy of Dance, British Ballet Organisation and Scottish Ballet School, and regularly delivers workshops in Austria.
In September 2004 Denise joined the vocational staff of Elmhurst at their new site in Birmingham. She is currently ballet tutor for Lower School Girls and in charge of the Dance Styles/National Dance programme.
