Students from Elmhurst benefit from the large number of guest teachers that teach and give masterclasses at the school throughout the year.

Kit Holder spent time in school rehearsing students for the gala performance of Romany Wood.
Répétiteur Denis Bonner worked with Sixth Form students on Ashton’s Pas de Quatre from Swan Lake; this forms part of a performance in Tokyo this summer as part of a cultural exchange organised by International Japan Youth Ballet. Birmingham Royal Ballet Soloist Lei Zhao is also a permanent member of Elmhurst's staff.


During 2009-10, other guest teachers have included:

Wayne Sleep, former Royal Ballet Principal
Wayne Sleep visited the school in September, while performing in Cabaret at Birmingham Repertory Theatre; he coached students in the ‘Blue boy’ solo from Les Patineurs. Wayne wrote in our visitors’ book: ‘I hope to have inspired your boys… I must say how they inspired me also with their technique and dedication’.

Matz Skoog, internationally acclaimed dancer, teacher and artistic director
Matz Skoog spent a week in school in October teaching ballet to the Sixth Form and taking an informal session on auditioning.

Paul Bayes-Kitcher, Former Birmingham Royal Ballet Soloist

Nikki Wollaston
Nikki Wollaston gave a musical theatre workshop with John Rigby in September, teaching her own choreography and the song ‘The Farmer and the Cowman’ from Chichester Festival’s Oklahoma! She returned to Elmhurst in October to teach Stephen Mear’s ‘Hawaiian War Chant’ from the 2006 London Palladium production of Sinatra.

Dominic North and Chloe Wilkinson from New Adventures
Dominic North and Chloe Wilkinson led dance workshops on Dorian Gray with Sixth Form students in November.
