Dance: Lower School

The Lower School offers a five-year course for students aged 11 to 16; students are chosen for their love of dance, allied to flexibility, strength, musicality and intelligence.

Students are appraised throughout their school career as it is not considered to be in any student's best interests to remain on a vocational course if their strengths lie elsewhere. Those who progress through to the end of Year 11 and wish to pursue a career as a professional dancer are strongly encouraged to remain at Elmhurst for the Sixth Form. The school gives its full support and assistance in seeking alternative schooling to students who have not shown the desired level of progress by the Year 9 or 11 appraisals.
