Born in Singapore, Michael Ho trained at the Singapore Ballet Academy, at the Legat School of Russian Ballet and the Royal Ballet Upper School. He danced with London Festival Ballet, Scottish Ballet and New London Ballet as a Soloist, before joining Rambert Dance Company in 1977, where he created the role of Moon in Lindsay Kempís acclaimed Cruel Garden
. During his extensive career as a professional dancer, he danced works by Alston, Bruce, Cunningham, Keuter, North, Taylor and
Tetley amongst many others. He gained his RAD Professional Dancers' Teaching Diploma in 1984.
He was Ballet Master and the Artistic Director of Sacramento Ballet, before joining Pittsburgh Ballet as Principal Teacher. As well as full-time positions, he has guest taught all over the world including, the International School for Dance and Actus Dance in Japan, the universities of Alabama and Surrey, Hong Kong Ballet, Memphis Classical Ballet, Northern Ballet School, Hammond School, the Cecchetti Society, the British Ballet Organisation, DanceXchange, London City Ballet, Rambert Dance Company, Japan International Youth Ballet and Denver Ballet School.
In 1991 he joined Bridget Espinosaís London Studio Centre and formed the Images of Dance company with renowned ex-Royal Ballet ballerina Margaret Barbieri. In 2004 he was awarded a Masters degree in Dance from the University of Guildford. He joined Elmhurst School for Dance in 2004 when it moved to Birmingham; he teaches classical ballet and regularly choreographs for school shows. He has led a group of students on an annual trip to Japan for performances with Japan International Youth Ballet each summer since 2010.
