Romany Wood
Romany Wood was specially created for students from Elmhurst by choreographer and BRB dancer Kit Holder. It was given its world premiere performances on Wednesday 25 and Thursday 26 March 2009 to mark the opening of Theatre Severn in Worcester.
The ballet is based on a novel by local author Beshlie, a Romany who lives in Shropshire. The story had previously been turned into a 40-minute classical work by David Gaukroger and David Carr - who have both lived and worked in Shropshire for many years. David Gaukroger revised his score for this piece in collaboration with Kit Holder to create this unique ballet.
The ballet was given a further performance at Elmhurst on 7 May 2009, in front of an audience comprising members of The Friends of Elmhurst.
