Dancers' summer school 2010



The teaching faculty for the dancers' course will comprise members of the ballet staff and dancers of Birmingham Royal Ballet, guest teachers and staff from Elmhurst School for Dance. The faculty will include:

David Bintley CBE, Director, Birmingham Royal Ballet
Desmond Kelly OBE, Artistic Director, Elmhurst School of Dance
Marion Tait CBE, Ballet Mistress, Birmingham Royal Ballet
Michael O'Hare, Ballet Master, Birmingham Royal Ballet
Dominic Antonucci, Ballet Master, Birmingham Royal Ballet
Robert Parker, Principal, Birmingham Royal Ballet
Ambra Vallo, Principal, Birmingham Royal Ballet
Victoria Marr, First Soloist, Birmingham Royal Ballet

The course takes place at Elmhurst School for Dance’s superb, purpose-built facilities in Birmingham, with accommodation on site. The course begins with arrival at the School on Sunday 15 August and finishes on Friday 20 August. Whilst the course will focus on Ballet (including repertoire, pointe and pas de deux), classes in Contemporary, Jazz, Flamenco will take place, as well as sessions covering Body Conditioning and Pilates.

Applications for the Summer School are invited from dance students from 14 years to 18 years old. The closing date for applications is 10 March. Selection of successful candidates will be based on the photographs and the form submitted - there are no auditions for the Summer School. No application/registration fees are required, however following a successful application (notification will be given by 19 March) a part-payment of £50 is required by 6 April to secure the place on the course.

The full-board residential course costs £500. There are also some non-residential places available at £350.
