Residential School Caretaker
(52 weeks, not term time only)
including on-site accommodation
£9.18 per hour – 20 hours per week (plus overtime)
We are looking for someone to join us as a Residential School Caretaker to be responsible for unlocking and locking duties, maintaining the grounds and gardens, supporting the wider Facilities Team and to be on call on evenings and weekends to deal with emergency call outs in the school and/or boarding accommodation.
The school offers boarding facilities with up to 125 students living on site and a further 47 Year 11 and Sixth Form students living in our Upper School student accommodation 10 minutes’ walk away.
The successful candidate will:
Ensure that the school environment is safe and well organised to support students and staff in their day-to-day work at the school.
Be accountable for site security including unlocking and locking the school building during term time and holiday periods (subject to annual leave) with the support of the Facilities Co-ordinator.
Be responsible for the upkeep of the school’s grounds and gardens.
Deal with out of hours urgent facilities matters.
Be the lead fire marshal outside of normal school hours.
Be available to support the Facilities team to assist with or supervise lettings and events, mainly on evenings and weekends.
There is a high level of contact with both internal and external stakeholders and as such candidates must have a friendly and professional approach. The School Caretaker will be an essential member of the Facilities Team and contribute towards the smooth running of the school.
The successful candidate will work towards fulfilling the schools commitment to a high quality of service and will promote and embody the schools ethos; the Elmhurst Way.
Accommodation is offered to the successful candidate. The Lodge includes 2 double bedrooms, lounge, dining room, kitchen, main and ensuite bathrooms and a small outdoor space. This will be covered by a separate occupancy agreement.
