Elmhurst in Association with Birmingham Royal Ballet is a world renowned centre of excellence for the training and education of ballet dancers. Students are equipped with the skills, resilience and creativity to succeed and make a difference in the professional dance world and beyond.
ARAD, RAD Dip PDTC, RTS Ballet / RAD
Laura began her training in Worcestershire, during which time she was an RAD Scholar. Laura then attended the Royal Ballet School, where she won the Phyllis Bedells bursary and performed with Sadler's Wells Royal Ballet.
Laura's professional career began in The Royal Ballet of Flanders. She also danced with London City Ballet and in Nuremburg Germaany. Laura has danced the title role in Giselle, Nutcracker, The
Sleeping Beauty and Firebird. Laura's has danced soloist roles in ballets choreographed by Balanchine, Bournonville, Bruce, Cranko, Christie and Agnes De Mille. She also danced in Cameron Macintosh's production of Phantom of the Opera at Her Majesty's Theatre.
Laura qualified as a teacher at the R.A.D on the P.D.T.C programme with distinction. Upon qualifying she joined the faculty of education there and taught at London Studio Centre. She also ran her own school for three years.
Laura joined Elmhurst as a full-time teacher in 2007. During her years at Elmhurst she has been filmed by the BBC2 Horizon programme, was featured in a D.V.D used by Birmingham University for good teaching practice workshops, and has been involved in the filming of the new syllabus for the R.A.D.
