Elmhurst's Lydia Holt carries Olympic flame

Elmhurst student Lydia Holt carries the Olympic torch

On Wednesday 23 May, Elmhurst student Lydia Holt carried the Olympic torch along Montpelier Terrace in her home town of Cheltenham - dancing all the way.

Lydia’s mum Michelle nominated her daughter through the Coca Cola 'Future Flames' scheme and Lydia was chosen by a judging panel of celebrities and Olympic athletes. Coca Cola were looking for young people 'with a burning passion' and the panel immediately recognised Lydia's drive and determination to succeed in dance when her commitment to full-time ballet training shone through at 'future flame' decision stage.

Lydia fell in love with ballet at just three years of age. After a few years at a local dance school she found out about the Royal Ballet Junior Associate classes. Lydia started training with the Royal Ballet JAs in Birmingham and went on to tour with Birmingham Royal Ballet (as a JA). Now in Year 9, Lydia joined Elmhurst in Year 8 after one year at Tring Park.
